Shipping policy

We reserve the right to cancel an order based on the actual cost of shipping your order. We also do not ship orders to known or suspected freight forwarders.

We ship from San Luis Obispo, California, using USPS and UPS. Time to delivery depends on your location and your choice of shipping option. Issues with USPS and UPS are, unfortunately, outside of our control, but we strive to get your purchase to you as quickly as possible.

Generally, free shipping must meet an order minimum indicated at checkout, and is limited to certain product classes, at the economy level, to locations in the "lower 48 states" of the United States. If you do not see a free shipping option offered at checkout, your order does not qualify. We are a small brick and mortar business, in a remote (yet beautiful) part of California. Further, even if an order qualifies for free shipping, we reserve the right to charge for shipping or cancel the order if shipping costs are exorbitant (usually based on the weight and dimensions of products ordered).

Normal processing takes no longer than one business day, and packages go out Monday through Friday.

12 p.m. Pacific is our daily shipping cutoff, and 11 a.m. Pacific for overnight.

For Thule and Yakima products, and certain other large, bulky, and heavy items—say, Goal Zero Yeti batteries—a variety of shipping options are presented based on distance, desired time of delivery, and the dimensions/weight of the products being shipped. The final cost of shipping is displayed at checkout.

Again, we reserve the right to cancel an order due to excessive shipping costs, and in some of these cases will reach out to discuss.

Returns must be shipped back to the store at the customer's cost. If The Mountain Air sends a return label, the cost of the return shipping will be deducted from the refunded amount.
